The Beast

That's the Beast. Its called a gamma camera and its used to image gamma radiation from radioisotopes which in my case were injected into the blood stream in order to take multiple images of my heart at rest and at play.
One half hour after the first injection the tech slides you under the camera face up so that the camera is positioned over the heart and then lowered till its about two inches from your chest. The camera slowly rotates all the while taking images. The procedure takes about fifteen to twenty minutes.
Next  is a stress test on the mill followed by another isotope injection followed by another session with the camera.
I was suppose to have had a Persantine injection instead of
being on the mill. The radiologist must have thought that it wasn't needed and this shortened the time the test was to take
The whole thing took two hours with a half hour lunch break. After that I drove my wife and sister to a big mall for a crawl then on to the road home.

The clinic I was at is a private one (horrors!) that charges OHIP. The service was friendly and efficient.
