She is Out !!

Got Shirl home from the hospital yesterday (Nov 13).She has progressed so much in the physiotherapy program that her doctor said that she might as well continue it at home.
The physiotherapists were intrigued by her rapid pace and were impressed by her physical condition which they think helped to make her recovery quicker.
Since she can't put weight on her broken leg for probably another four weeks and the broken bones in her shoulder precludes using crutches she is confined to a wheel chair for the duration.Already she has figured out how to get around in the chair using one good leg and one good arm...lol

The broken bones in her shoulder cannot be fixed because radiation for breast cancer seven years ago made her bones in that area porous. This was a surprise! The oncologist said nothing about this side effect.A plate and screws to hold the bones in place would not work since putting in screws would be like putting  screws into a block of cheese.(surgeon's words)

Hey there young fella! Glad to hear that Shirl is progressing to the point of discharge. Femur breaks can be nasty things. She's lucky she's got the right DNA that enables her to heal quickly. Sorry to hear about her shoulder/collarbone. So many side effects we never know about. Give her my very best wishes for a speedy recovery.

As for her *nurse*, you need to take it easy and not overdo it although I know how hard that will be. Pace yourself and don't push the old bod to do more than it can right now.

Got both of you on prayer wheel. Take care.

Thanks very much for your kind comment and also for putting us on the prayer wheel.

Rest assured that I will not push this old bod.Luckily for us we have some younger bods aka Kids to do that.
