A Visit to the Doctor

Saw my doctor yesterday. He had a doctor in training with him and asked if it was okay with me if she did the examination and questions to which I said ok. After the trainee was through he came in to answer my questions and any concerns
He then  asked me about any exercising I was doing and I had to tell him that i was doing nothing till after I had the stress test and asked the heart specialist for a program of exercise and walking.

Before I left both doctors told me that I looked very well.My doctor said to me "after all you are only 75"
I chuckled to myself because I remember Mom telling me that people would say to her  even though she was seriously ill 'but Marg you look so good'. I must have got that particular gene from her.

On a different note, I added Grannymar to my blog roll. I find her blog entertaining as well as interesting and look forward to many reads AND besides that she lives in Northern Ireland where my maternal great-grandfather and great- grand mother came from.

You maded a very telling comment GFB - did nothing until AFTER the stress test. I bought a treadmill a couple of months ago and so far have used it once or twice. I need to start getting my money`s worth out of that piece of technology! :-)

VP: I hope you use the mill.I have in the past found that I walked better on it than on ground mainly because the track is cushioned thus making it easy on the knee joints.

Just a suggestion for you:Start at a speed that you find comfortable and see if you can do say 20 minutes. When you can do that increase the speed and the time. Most important that you find a time of day for your walk that works for you and at the beginning walk on the mill every other day.Keep track of your walking speed and time.

I found that a count down or up electronic timer to be very useful.

Bah treadmills or as I call them Clothes hangers.

I've know very very few who have them and use them.

I tried it with books and movies and radios, etc. but could never meet its sterile demands.

Outdoors for me.

Good luck GFB!!

WWW:The mill is good to use in the winter. That's a point that was driven home to me in Feb/12

The rest of the year it does make a good clothes hanger :)
