Saturday here was cold but the sky was that pristine blue with a clearness that I only see in the winter months. A big change last night when a Colorado low flowed in with freezing rain.
I apologize to the folks that leave comments here for being tardy in publishing them. I will remember to read my email more often and not rely on the string around my finger.
I did remember to get my INR checked this morning and to not forget the little blue book that I must take with me to the nurse. (mark on the wall here).
Whats going on with Americans and Downton Abbey ? The short segment I watched before I dozed off reminded me of the old Upstairs Downstairs that appeared on PBS back in the early seventies.Maybe its the superior acting, to answer my question.I notice this in Foyle's War a series on PBS that I have a minor addiction to.
Mixed bag
I am almost through World on Fire.I would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in the Civil War. The book describes the diplomacy between the United States, Britain and France in an effort to keep Europe from recognizing and supporting the Confederate States militarily.
There is a villain,William Seward. He might be a hero to the Americans but to me he was your homegrown slime ball appointed to a position, by Lincoln, that only by dumb luck and British forbearance he didn't cause Britain who was a natural ally of the North and sympathetic to the abolitionists to come in on the side of the South in exasperation over Seward's threats to invade Canada.
One little known fact to me was that Britons from army privates to Generals fought and died for both sides in that war.
